Every modern Android browser handles file downloads natively. TikSnap delivers the video as a regular file, so you're not tied to one specific browser. If you're using the in-app browser inside TikTok itself, it's best to copy the link and open it in Chrome so the download is handled properly.

The Downloads folder and media scanning

Android stores whatever you download from the browser in /Internal storage/Download. A system process called the media scanner spots the new MP4 and registers it so gallery apps can display it. That's why you never have to 'import' anything: it simply appears, usually in an album named Download.

No extra storage permissions

A downloader app typically asks for access to all your files, your photos, and sometimes notifications or screen overlays. When you download from the browser, Chrome already holds that permission, scoped and granted. TikSnap asks for nothing because it doesn't run on your phone; it just hands you a file.

No updates and no space taken

Third-party TikTok apps break often and depend on the developer shipping patches. A web tool is updated on the server, so every time you visit you're already on the latest version. It also takes no storage and drains no battery in the background.

Samsung Galaxy: Samsung Internet and the Download folder

On Samsung, the default browser may be Samsung Internet. It works just like Chrome: after tapping download you'll see a 'Download complete' notice with an open button. Videos appear in the Gallery app inside the 'Download' album. To send them to an SD card instead, change the location under Samsung Internet → Settings → Sites and downloads → Download location.

Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO: MIUI and HyperOS

Xiaomi phones ship their own download manager and a Gallery that sometimes hides new folders until you open them. If the video doesn't show up right away, go to Gallery → Albums and look for 'Download'. On MIUI you can also check Security → Download manager, where everything fetched through the browser is listed.

Pixel, Motorola and stock Android

On phones running Android without a heavy skin (Pixel, Motorola, Nokia, Android One), the gallery is usually Google Photos. After downloading, open Photos → Library → Download and the MP4 will be there. If Photos backup is enabled for that folder, the video will upload to your Google account; turn it off for that folder if you'd rather keep it on the device only.

Where the file is if you can't find it

Open the 'Files' app (Files by Google on most brands, 'My Files' on Samsung, 'File Manager' on Xiaomi) and go to Downloads or Download. You'll see the MP4 with the name TikSnap assigns, which includes the creator's username and the video ID. From there you can move, rename or share it to WhatsApp.

Chrome asks before downloading or blocks the file

Some Chrome versions show a 'Download anyway?' style dialog for any video file. It's a generic warning, not a problem with the MP4. Tap 'Download'. If nothing happens at all, check that Chrome has storage permission under Settings → Apps → Chrome → Permissions, and that the 'Ask where to save files' option isn't leaving the dialog hidden in the background.

Data saver and battery modes

Chrome's Data Saver or the aggressive battery optimisation on some skins (Xiaomi and Huawei especially) can pause long downloads when the screen locks. If you're saving a multi-minute video, keep the screen on until it finishes or add Chrome to the list of apps with no battery restrictions.

Responsible use on Android

Saving a video to your Gallery to watch offline or keep as a memento is one thing; re-uploading it as if it were yours is another. Keep the creator credited when you share, don't monetise someone else's content, and respect that private accounts chose not to make their videos public.

Keeping your downloads organised

If you download often, create a folder inside Download (for example 'TikTok') from the Files app and move the videos there. Google Photos and Samsung Gallery will show it as a separate album, and your clips won't get mixed up with PDFs or WhatsApp photos that land in the same folder.

Android FAQ

Do I really not need to install any app or APK?

No. TikSnap runs entirely in the browser. You paste the link, the server locates the public video and hands you the MP4 like any other web download. There's nothing to install, no extensions, and no APK from unknown sources to enable in Android's security settings.

Where is the video saved on my Android?

In the Downloads (Download) folder on internal storage. You can see it from the Files or My Files app, and it also appears in the Gallery or Google Photos inside an album with the same name. If you set your browser to save to the SD card, it'll be in the card's Download folder.

The video isn't showing in the Gallery. What should I do?

Wait a few seconds, then close and reopen the Gallery; Android's media scanner takes a moment to register new files. If it still doesn't appear, open it from the Files app → Downloads. On Xiaomi, check Gallery → Albums, since new albums sometimes show only there. If the download stopped halfway, run it again with the screen on.

What permissions does TikSnap need on Android?

None of its own. TikSnap is a web page and can't request Android permissions. The only thing involved is the storage permission your browser already has for saving downloads. If Chrome asks whether to allow downloads from a site, that's a generic browser prompt and you can accept it.

Does it work with Samsung Internet, Firefox or Opera?

Yes. Any Android browser with a download manager will do. We describe the flow with Chrome because it's the most common, but Samsung Internet, Firefox, Edge, Opera and Brave download the file the same way. The only difference is where you see the progress notification and the menu to change the destination folder.

Does the downloaded video have the TikTok watermark?

You receive the video without a watermark, in original quality, exactly as the creator published it. We don't crop, blur or re-encode anything: it's the video file as is, without the overlaid logo and username that the app's own save option adds.

Can I download videos from private accounts?

No. TikSnap only processes public videos. If an account is private or a video is set to 'only me' or 'friends', we can't access it and the search returns no result. That setting is the creator's decision and we respect it; there is no way around it with this tool.

Is it legal to download TikTok videos on Android?

Saving a public video to watch offline or for personal use is generally acceptable in most countries. What isn't legal is redistributing it as your own, monetising it or using it commercially without permission: the rights stay with the creator and, for the music, with its rights holders. If you plan to repost something, ask for permission or credit the author clearly.

Does it use a lot of mobile data?

Only as much as the file weighs. A short TikTok video is usually a few megabytes, and the preview gives you an idea before you download. There are no extra processes eating data. To save data, download on Wi-Fi and enjoy the content offline afterwards.

Why do some Android downloaders ask you to install an APK?

Because an installed app can ask for broad permissions, push notifications and collect device data, things a web page can't do. Technically, downloading a file needs none of that: the browser already knows how. That's why we'd rather you install nothing.
